About Me
Hello! I'm Pieter Plaizier, a Master student in Geography and Geomatics, with a passion for maps and showing geographic data on interactive web applications. Geographic data is everywhere in our lives, visualizing datasets helps us to get a better understanding of the data and can help us to make decisions and take actions.
Here, you'll find a showcase of my projects, as well as links to my online profiles where you can connect with me. Take a look around to see how I bring data, maps, and technology together to create engaging digital experiences.
These projects were made to teach myself the various techniques involved in handling, analyzing and mapping geographic data.
Featured Projects
Interactive Maps
A comprehensive map application with a focus on belgium that shows different map layers from different sources, such as (local) governments, providing a data-rich map application with smooth interactivity and responsive design. Developed using modern JavaScript frameworks, in combination with a PostgreSQL database.
Real-Time Train Tracker
A real-time train tracker designed to provide live updates on train schedules and status and disturbances in Belgium in a map oriented-manner, by showing the exact route of the train or it's current position for example. With intuitive visuals and up-to-date data integration, this tool showcases my ability to manage and handle geographic data in a postgreSQL database and transform the data into a usefull map which is beneficial to the user.
